Report on the Albert Ball Parade

On the evening of Sunday May 7th, around 170 Air Cadets from the Nottingham ATC Squadrons, including our Squadron, converged on Nottingham Castle to take part in a parade and service to commemorate Cpt Albert Ball VC, a famous WW1 fighter ace who was born in Nottingham. Albert’s 44 victories earned him a posthumous Victoria Cross. He died on patrol shortly before his 21st birthday on May 7th 1917. The parade is an annual event for Nottingham squadrons and always takes place on the anniversary of Albert Ball’s death. His statue is near the bandstand in the castle grounds.
