Ijzer 2007

The Ijzer March is underway!! On the 20th of August, a team of staff and older Cadets travelled to Belgium to take part in the March that covers a timed 80 miles over 4 days! Yes, 20 miles a day!! See photos from last year’s event and the Ijzer March website where you may watch the webcams too.

22/8/07 Day 1 – The team set out in wet weather but the day ended warm and windy. Today the team took 7 hours to cover the 20 miles. Only 3 days and 60 miles to go.
23/8/07 Day 2 – Today the march is starting to hurt a little, with the blisters beginning to appear, but this was made a bit less painful by beating the Herts and Bucks team! This evening, the team attend the parade in Poperinge in the rain. 2 days and 40 miles to go.
24/8/07 Day 3 – The team had a good day today, despite the blister count rising. They marched with a group of Belgians and spent most of the day singing along with them. 60 miles completed.
25/8/07 Day 4 – 80 MILESTHEY’VE FINISHED! Brief message received by text to say that the team had finished and have received their medals. Tonight, they will be enjoying the hospitality of the Belgians, relaxing before the journey home tomorrow. WELL DONE TEAM!!
