The Cadets’ year ended just before Christmas with a Christmas Party in our HQ building at Nottingham Airport, Tollerton. Our Cadets then had a well-earned rest over Christmas to recharge their batteries before starting back in early January. At this point, as the New Year gets under way, it seems appropriate to quote an extract from the end-of-year message from the head of the Air Cadet Organisation, Air Commodore Dawn McAfferty, who is the head of the entire organisation and had this to say:
“I could write pages and pages about the many achievements our cadets have enjoyed, supported as always by the incredible team of adult volunteers and permanent staff who make the cadet experience possible. If I named some events and not others, I would be bound to upset someone so, instead, I will simply say that I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has worked so hard this year to ensure that our cadets continue to be seen as world class young people who are an inspiration to others. Our volunteers, too, are the envy of many other voluntary organisations and I pay tribute to their talent and their dedication - we simply could not exist without them.”
You may read the full message at www.aircadets.org, the main Air Training Corps website, where you may find out a lot more about the exciting activities, how to join and even how adults may become volunteers.
Air Cdre McAfferty is very strong on communication and those of you who ‘tweet’ may well be interested in following the regular messages from the Air Cdre whose Twitter name is @ComdtAC.
