2425 Had a Busy time at Rempston (Click to see all photos in a new window)

The annual Rempstone Steam and Country Fair brings in huge crowds to see a wide variety of attractions and this year these included a couple of new ones: an aerobatics display and American Civil War re-enactment. The main event is organised and run by a dedicated band of volunteers and they need help in various areas. We are lucky enough to be invited each year to carry out car parking and programme selling duties. This is a critical part of the event as thousands of cars stream in, nose to tail, over the weekend. Around 20 cadets and 12 staff gave up an entire weekend to carry out this duty in rotating 2 hour shifts under the hot sun.

We are proud of the way the cadets greet visitors in a courteous and welcoming manner, despite the intensity of the occasion. Show organiser Colin Fox said “Without 2425 Squadron organising the parking this event could not take place. They are an essential part of the Rempstone team.” Of course it was not all hard work and at the end of the day the cadets enjoy some ‘R and R’ in and around the fair itself where they have chance to sample the food stalls, see the attractions and go on the fair rides before retiring to their tents. We receive many complementary comments about the cadets during the weekend. If you went, we hope you enjoyed the event and we hope you noticed how expertly we parked your car!
